Welcome
No new posts Our Staff Welcomes You
Are you the woman/man who is all worn out at the close of day?  So housework gets you down?  Don't let it.

There are so many short cuts to a clean house.  Don't be afraid to try them.

What job do you dislike doing most?  I dislike dusting.  That's when I put my radio to work.  When you have to do some bit of housework you dislike, let your radio help you.  Turn the dial to something interesting.  If there isn't anything special at the time, find some peppy music.  Even if you're washing woodwork or scrubbing floors, in short, while the program will be absorbing your mind, the job will be done, and you will not have minded doing it at all.

Enjoy our posts from the "Housework Made Easy" forum.  Everyone will find something useful and less time spent when it comes to housework and to make it easy.

To Dry Curtain Without Ironing

Hang them on their rods while still damp.  Run extra rods through the bottom hem, and weight down if necessary.  When dry the curtains will be smooth.

To Make A Good Homemade Duster
Soak an old piece of flannel in paraffin oil or furniture oil overnight.  Wring it out tightly in the morning and then wash it in warm water.  Hang it to dry.  When dry, it's ready to be used as a duster.  It treated in this manner, a duster will gather all dust and at the same time give a grand polish to furniture and floors.

Wood Floors With Fine Finishes Should Hever Be Scrubbed
Never scrub fine finishes on wood floors with water or unnecessarily brought in contact with it. Sweeping or dry mopping should be all that is necessary for routine cleaning.

To Help Save Heat
Pull down the window shades when the chill of night comes on.  By pulling down the shades an insulating air pocket is formed that keeps the heat in the house and keeps the cold air out, saving valuable heating.

When driving a nail to hang a picture
Put a small piece of adhesive tape where the hole is to be made; driving the nail through this prevents the wall from cracking.

Small Glass Jars With A Screw Top Make Ideal Containers For Nails and Screws and Tacks
Lots of men have a workbench in the basement of their home where they go to do odd jobs.  And the way to make it easy to find the size nail that is wanted is to nail the screw top to the underside of a shelf over the workbench.  Then the jars filled with nails can be screwed into the top.  If you have children in the family, this is an especially good idea, for you're sure the nails will be up out of their reach.
